Eric, Ellen, Ben, and Ingrid

Eric, Ellen, Ben, and Ingrid

Home Share Now uses a time-tested matching process to meet the diverse needs of those looking to share housing. Our participants aren’t the only diversity in our program — you’ll also find a variety of home sharing options, from single family homes, to duplexes, to accessory apartments.

Every Home Share Now participant benefits from an interview, personal and housing references, an employment verification, a background check, staff-directed introductions, a two-week trial period, and personalized written agreements.

In Johnson we matched Ellen and Ben. In this home share, Ellen lives in one part of the house, Ingrid and Eric (daughter and son-in-law) live adjacent, and Ben lives upstairs. Ben provides household help and a protective presence, putting Ingrid and Eric at ease when they travel. For Ben, the exchange of services instead of market rent means more time can be spent on graduate studies instead of attempting to juggle both full time work and school. For these four, home sharing is clearly a win-win. Just look at all those glorious smiles!
