Rick, Diane, and Carissa

Rick, Diane, and Carissa

Diane and Rick have a bustling home with two young children in addition to serving as a host home for a young man living with a disability. In exchange for housing at a reduced rent, the family was looking for an extra set of hands to help with things like childcare, housekeeping, gardening and wood stacking.

Carissa saw Home Share Now’s ad on Craigslist and thought they could be a fit - she was moving to the area for her new job from New York and didn't want to live alone. The thought of living with a family instead of a roommate was appealing.

The written agreement between Carissa and Diane and Rick outlined what chores and hours she'd provide in exchange for her housing – having flexibility (by both home providers and seekers) is key for successful home sharing matches.

Fast forward a couple of years - Carissa is now married and lives in St. Albans. She's a young mother who doesn't want to live alone while her husband is deployed overseas. Her heartwarming experience with Diane and Rick prompted her to share her new home with someone looking for housing. Full circle!
